A trial in which Scott Logan, Brad Watson, and Chris Logan obtained a defense verdict on behalf of an ophthalmologist and his practice group in Jackson County, Missouri was recently named one of the Top 10 Defense Verdicts for 2014 as reported by the Missouri Lawyers Weekly publication. In this matter the plaintiff was a 5 year old girl born without 70% of her upper eyelid, who claimed blindness in one eye because of the development of a corneal ulcer after surgery was performed. The pretrial demand was for $3,250,000, and the prayer made by the plaintiff during closing arguments was for $12,000,000. The jury returned a defense verdict after approximately two hours of deliberation.
