Fred has provided his clients the highest quality legal service for almost forty years. A number of his clients have been with him for more than thirty years. One client summed it up this way: “Fred does more than give legal advice. He gives wise counsel in every area.”

Fred focuses his practice in the areas of business law, public and not-for-profit law, real estate, probate and estate planning law, and administrative law. He brings to his practice a unique understanding of the ways in which law and public policy intersect.

The reported cases in which Fred has served as counsel are impressive for their breadth and for the important legal ground broken in several of them. A few examples, described in greater detail in the Reported Cases section of this website, include Matter of Estate of Brodbeck, a case in which Fred successfully argued that summary judgment was available in probate cases; Injured Workers of Kansas v. Franklin, a case in which the Kansas Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of workers compensation legislation reforms; Kansas Pipeline Partnership v. State Corporation Commission, a case that established new law governing the contracts of utilities; and Frasher v. Life Investors Ins. Co. of America, a case involving choice of law and insurance policy construction issues.

Fred is rated an AV® Preeminent lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell. His legal skill was acknowledged by his peers when he was named a charter member and Master of the Bench of the Earl E. O’Connor Inn of Court in 1990.

Fred has devoted significant time to civic endeavors. He has been recognized on numerous occasions for his leadership in the greater Kansas City area and in the state of Kansas.
